The Sick World of “Who Will Die First” Bets

I hadn’t planned on writing this article. No, I didn’t even know that you could bet on the mortality of public figures and celebrities not with a sportsbook that is legitimate! It turns out you absolutely can, and as a result of the hilariously twisted souls behind putting the odds for, it’s more enjoyable and less depressing than you may think.
For many years I’d heard people talking their passing pools and around the workplace. Normally, they were composed as a way to publicly predict that a star would be expiring soon (within the calendar year, in most cases), with little follow-through past the announcement.
More recently, I’d even heard of a more official death pool run and being arranged by comedian Doug Stanhope — using a professional, organized everything and website! But those options pale in comparison to what’s happening in — and I am assuming other betting sites too — at the moment.
Yes, “Death Matchups” Actually Exist!
First of all, the oddsmakers at are hilariously sick, which I’ll make abundantly clear in later segments. Not only are they setting odds on if an wide selection of celebrities and public figures will perish, but they also pair them up into”death matchups,” at which the follow-through picks that of at least two choices will croak first.
It is the way the bookies opt to make these pairs that actually shines a light in their brilliance. For instance, preparing a head-to-head between Demi Lovato and Artie Lange is breathtakingly insensitive. These two have nothing in common outside of alcoholism dependence and hospitalizations.
To reword the bet, it is essentially”which of these two troubled celebrities will die of an overdose first?” Dark, huh?
Of course, they never come out and say,”This is our heroin showdown,” that would probably be depended upon. They leave the remainder for you to figure out and place the lines. And while, the entire issue is pretty mean in today’s hyper-sensitive planet; why should not we put our money where our collective mouth is?
It’s not like we all are not currently hypothesizing all the time to this sort of thing with our friends and coworkers. This only raises the stakes a bit. Makes your “I told you so” a smidgen more rewarding.
